Ms Shakera is such a beautiful person inside and out. My 4 year old has been dancing with the Praize Break team since winter of 2018, when Ms. Shakera started. My daughter absolutely loves it! Ms. Shakera is so loving and patient. Teaching a 3 years to dance can be very challenging as they lose interest or some days do not want to participate but Ms. Shakera shows no frustration. Having recently moved from NYC; I searched for a long time for a dance school for my daughter. I wanted her to see herself in her teacher, this proved hard to find in York PA. Until we found Praize Break.
The Liturgical Dance Academy goes beyond teaching dance.
The founder/instructor Shakera La’prece uses every opportunity she has to empower the girls, build confidence, and teach them the importance of spreading kindness. My daughter learned dance techniques, choreography and most importantly to give back to others less fortunate (through organized events, where the girls made and gave away bags to the needy.) This forced me to have conversations with my daughter I had not had before. I am grateful for that and happy to have been a part of such an amazing experience. We got back so much more than I could have ever imagined.
In short...Would I recommend Praize Break? YES! YES!! YES!! because our girls need to know that black girls rock!!

I was introduce to this dance ministry after seeing my niece dance under the guidance of Ms. Shakera. Instantly l knew, this was something I wanted my daughter to be apart of. At the time, my daughter was 3 years old and Ms. Shakera welcomed the possibility of having a young dancer aboard. Jaalah who is now 4 talks of Ms. Shakera and the love for her teacher and dance all the time.
The passion and dedication I saw from Ms. Shakera as well as her sincerity of praise through dance was astounding. I especially appreciate how she teaches youth to dance for Christ. She teaches them important life lessons based on the Word of God and is equipping dancers to use their gifts for the Kingdom of God.

I highly recommend shakera’s praize break dance class. My daughter loves it! She’s been in her dance class for two years now and the growth in her confidence has been amazing! Shakera makes everything easy as possible when it comes to registration and recitals. She works very well with them and they follow her with pride and joy. Hello, My name is Shakera and I use dance as a way of Healing my Mind, Body, & Soul. I have a burning passion for women and youth empowerment, particularly our young ladies. Dancing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Combining my passions lead me to my purpose. As a Certified Youth Exercise Specialist, I have developed classes that will engage our women and young ladies to take control of their health while having a blast!
